The Shoshone Tribes lived in the area west and east of the Rocky Mountains. They were divided out into three groups, which were the Northern, Western and Eastern. The Northern part were located inexternal image shoshone.jpg Idaho, Wyoming, and Utah. The Eastern lived in Wyoming, Colorado and Montana, and the Western lived Idaho, Utah, Nevada, and the Death Valley and Panamint Valley areas of California. When settlers came to Utah, their land changed in respect of cattle, farming, and irrigation. The immigrants in oregon drove their livestock across the Shoshone lands causing their food sources to become scarce. They got along well at first, but quickly after, they started to clash over scarce resources. These conflicts only became worse, and led to battle. But despise the battle, the immigrants were a big impact on the Shoshone tribes. They converted to mormonism and learned to farm when the LDS church gave them land in Idaho to farm on, and they called it the Washakie after their famous leader.
